How Streaming Payouts Work
There are two models for calculating artist payouts. Here's how they differ.
Current industry standard
Pro-Rata Model
All subscription revenue goes into a single pool.
Total pool ÷ total platform streams = per-stream rate.
Your payout depends on your share of all streams on the platform.
Typical result:
$0.003–$0.005 per stream
Kalipxo's approach
User-Centric Model
Each subscriber's payment stays in their own pool.
Their pool ÷ their streams = per-stream rate for artists they played.
Your payout comes directly from listeners who actually streamed you.
Typical result:
$0.01–$0.02 per stream
Example: A listener streams 1,000 songs per month
Let's say they listened to you 50 times.
Pro-Rata Model
Their $11.99 joins a pool with millions of other subscribers
Divided across trillions of total streams
50 × $0.003
= $0.15 to you
User-Centric Model
Their $14.99 stays in their personal pool
Divided only across their 1,000 streams
50 × $0.0127
= $0.64 to you
Same listener. Same 50 streams. 4x more revenue from a fan who actually listens to you.

Streaming is evolving.
Pro-rata made sense when streaming was new and catalog access was the selling point. But listener behavior has changed. Fans want to support specific artists, not subsidize a platform.
User-centric payouts align incentives: artists focus on building real fans, and fans know their subscription actually reaches the artists they listen to.
